This new documentary illustrates many major concepts of the philosopher, activist, and feminist Raya Dunayevskaya, who developed Marxist-Humanism over much of the last century. Its title and content reflect Dunayevskaya’s own approach to her biography as consisting of her ideas and their development. The film highlights the enduring relevance of her concepts today, especially the need for philosophic “new beginnings.” See the review and trailer in “With Sober Senses.”
The film-maker has generously allowed MHI to show this film. People anywhere in the U.S. who wish to arrange a screening and discussion should contact MHI about inviting us to show it in your locale. Contact [email protected]
The Failure of Capitalist Production: Underlying Causes of the Great Recession
by Andrew Kliman
Published by Pluto Press, London, Nov. 2011.
The reasons behind the global financial crisis and the Great Recession are the subject of much debate. This is the first book to conclude, on the basis of in-depth analyses of official U.S. data, that Marx’s crisis theory can explain these events.
